Product detailed description
Teroson MS 9399 is a highly viscous, non-sag, two-component product based on a silane-modified polymer that cures throughout the entire volume, independent of atmospheric humidity, to a permanently flexible material. It is free of solvents, silicones and isocyanates. Terostat MS 9399 has good resistance to UV radiation and weathering, so it can be used for both interior and exterior applications. If Terostat MS 9399 is dispensed from a cartridge, it is applied directly via a static mixer. After application of the mixed product, the parts must be assembled during the pot life at 23°C. At this temperature, handling strength is achieved in approximately 1.5 to 3 hours. Increasing the temperature will accelerate the reaction. Your benefits Two-component cartridge adhesive High initial strength Short tack-free time Independent of air humidity Easy-to-handle two-component system Technical data Colour: White, black Consistency: Pasty, thixotropic Application: Bonding parts Shore A hardness: (black) 20 min. (white) Tensile strength: 3.0 MPa Elongation: 150% Operating temperature: -40 to +100 °C Package size: 2 x 25 ml, 2 x 200 ml Curing: After mixing at room temperature Technology: Silane-modified polymer Type 9 used for flexible bonding and sealing, for example in the manufacture of caravans, boats or railway wagons. A characteristic feature of flexible bonding is the great adaptability of the adhesive to deformations of the joint. Only when the adhesive is fully deformed will the part deform itself. For the occurrence of stress peaks in the component is minimized due to the elastic behavior of the adhesive in the joint. Therefore, flexible bonding is particularly suitable for joining dissimilar materials to each other, such as metals and glass fiber reinforced plastics. In order to use the full advantages of the flexible bonding that this product offers, it is necessary to pay increased attention to the dimensions of the bonded joint (min. adhesive thickness 1 mm). This can be achieved, for example, by using washers or by pressing the adhesive into a predefined gap. The washers should have a Shore-A hardness of around 60. Surface preparation before bonding: The bonded surfaces must be clean, dry and well degreased. Depending on the surface, it may sometimes be necessary to roughen it or use a primer to improve adhesion. For plastic surfaces, we recommend using Terostat 450. In the production of plastic parts, separators are often used, which can sometimes remain on the surface. If we bond such a surface, this separator must be removed from it. Due to the variety of colors and coatings, it is necessary to perform an adhesion test before bonding painted surfaces. When bonding sensitive plastics such as Pmm A (plexiglass) or PC (Makrolon or Lexan), it is necessary to take into account their tendency to crack under tension. It is essential to perform a test before bonding. The product does not adhere to plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene and PTFE (Teflon). We also recommend performing your own tests for other materials. Application: Terostat MS 9399 is sold in a set of 2 x 200 ml cartridges (components A and B), which also contain a static mixer. When opening the cartridge, it is necessary to pull out the metal safety catch and then the green cap. Then the static mixer is inserted and tightened with the union nut. Insert the set prepared in this way into a suitable manual or air gun. After pressing the gun trigger, the material is extruded and mixed through the static mixer. Discard the first approx. 5 cm of the product bead, as the material may not be properly mixed at the very beginning. If the application is interrupted for more than 5 minutes at 23° C, the static mixer must be replaced with a new one. Otherwise, the increased viscosity of the product may clog the mixer and it may be torn by the pressure. At higher application temperatures, the interruption time is even shorter. Terostat MS 9399 is applied from the mixer directly to the bonded surfaces. When using an air gun, we recommend not exceeding a pressure of 5 bar. The parts must be removed within the pot life specified in this TL. Wipe off excess material immediately after application. Cleaning: We recommend using Cleaner A or FL to clean the application equipment or surfaces contaminated with uncured Teroson MS 9399.
