Product detailed description
Loctite UK 8160 (also known as Macroplast UK 8160, IDH 73713) is a two-component, solvent-free polyurethane adhesive used for flexible, flex-resistant bonding of prepared metals, wood and plastics to rigid ones. This adhesive is particularly suitable for the production of sandwich elements used in vehicles, containers, ships and other structural elements, including insulation elements down to -190 °C.
Technical parameters:
- Component A: pasty (specific gravity 1.4 to 1.5 g/cm?)
- Component B: liquid (viscosity 150 to 350 mPa.s, Brookfield, 20 °C)
- Mixed product: pasty pot life: 60 to 90 minutes at 20 °C (120 g mixture)
- Handling strength: 5 to 8 hours at 23 °C
- Achievement of final strength: 5 to 7 days
- Shear strength (steel/steel): >
- Temperature resistance: -190 °C to +80 °C
- Consumption: 200 to 500 g/m? depending on the type of substrate
Application:
- Loctite UK 8160 is designed for flexible foams. The main applications include the production of sandwich structures for vehicles, containers, ships, tanks and tankers. It is also used in the production of insulation elements with high resistance to low temperatures and in repairs composite parts.
Use for application:
-
Surface preparation: Loctite SF 7063 . If you are working with plastic materials, Loctite SF 7070 is the ideal choice, which ensures gentle but effective cleaning without damaging the surface.
Material: To thoroughly remove old deposits and dirt, including oils, greases and other industrial dirt, use Loctite SF 7840 . This universal water-based cleaner is biodegradable and is ideal for effective cleaning of various surfaces without damaging the material. -
Hand cleaning after work: After finishing the application, use Loctite SF 7850 , which is suitable for effective hand cleaning. This biodegradable cleaner removes oils, greases and other impurities. Loctite polyurethanes for easy selection.
Typical properties:
- Before curing: The mixture has a pasty consistency, easy to apply.
- After curing: It creates a hard and elastic joint that resists bending and exhibits volume stability when cured.
Use for application:
- Mixing the components can be done manually or using a special dosing system. The product is applied with a spatula, roller or spray. After mixing, the mixture is workable only for a limited time (60 to 90 minutes). Make sure that parts are under sufficient pressure after application to ensure a proper bond.
Instructions for use:
- Prepare the surface by removing dust, grease and other contaminants. Use a primer to improve adhesion to metal surfaces.
- Mix components A and B in a ratio of 5:1 (by weight). Mix slowly and thoroughly to avoid air entrainment.
- Apply the mixture to the surface during the pot life (60 to 90 minutes).
- Ensure that the bonded parts are firmly pressed and fixed during curing. mechanically.
Packaging: Loctite UK 8160 is available in 9 kg packages.
Storage:
- Components A and B: Recommended temperature 2 unopened original packaging. Storage below 10 °C or above 50 °C may adversely affect the product properties. Component B is sensitive to frost.
