Product detailed description

Loctite UK 5400(also known as Macroplast 5400 - IDH 73657)- 0.8125rem; letter-spacing: 0.02em;"> is a two-component polyurethane adhesive designed for use with polyurethane resins (e.g. UK 8160 and UK 8303). It functions as a hardener (component B) in solvent-free structural adhesives. It is particularly suitable for bonding pre-treated metals, wood, plastics and rigid foams. It is characterized by high resistance to low temperatures, which makes it ideal for the production of sandwich panels in the automotive, construction and marine industries. plastics, wood and rigid foams

  • Resistance to temperatures up to -190 °C
  • Ideal for the production of sandwich elements in industry
  • Technical parameters:

    • Colour: Brown (component B)
    • Viscosity at 20 °C: 250 – 350 mPa.s
    • Mixing ratio by weight: 5:1 with component A (UK 8160 or UK 8303)
    • Potency: 40 - 70 minutes (at 120 g, 20 g, 20 g) days at 23 °C
    • Temperature range: -40 °C to 80 °C
    • Tensile strength: > 6 MPa (EN 1465)

    Application:

    • Loctite UK 5400 is primarily used in the industry for bonding sandwich elements, especially in the manufacture of vehicles, containers, ships and insulation systems. It is also suitable for various potting, filling or surface finishing applications.

    Typical properties:

    • After mixing with resin (component A) cures by chemical reaction to an elastic material with high resistance to harsh conditions. The cured material does not change volume and is resistant to low and high temperatures.

    Use for application:

    • Use a standard two-component mixing device. After mixing, apply to the bonded joint, where adequate contact pressure must be applied during curing.

    Instructions for use:

    1. The surfaces of the parts to be bonded must be clean, dry and free of oil or dirt.
    2. Mix parts A and B in a ratio of 5:1.
    3. Apply the adhesive to the parts to be bonded and apply contact pressure during curing.
    4. Clean tools and excess material with Loctite SF 8040 cleaner.

5400 is available in a pack with weighing 6 kg (hardener - component B).

    Storage:

    • Component A: Store at temperatures between 15 °C and 25 °C, shelf life 12 months.
    • Component B: Store at temperatures between 15.
