Loctite SI 5927 is used for sealing or caulking applications in both machine maintenance and small, medium and large OEM operations. It is specifically formulated to meet the automotive industry’s requirements for a low volatility silicone for flange sealing at 315°C. As a molded-in-place sealant, Loctite 5927 has been formulated to provide excellent performance in typical automotive applications including valve covers, cylinder head covers, oil pans, water pumps, head gaskets, intake manifolds and rear axle housings. Loctite 5927 is also used as a sealant or adhesive for the assembly and repair of industrial ovens, dryers, water heaters, exhaust manifolds, high temperature lines and heating elements in electrical equipment. Typical use is for applications up to 315°C. Curing performance Loctite 5927 cures under the influence of atmospheric moisture. A non-stick surface is achieved within 1 hour and full cure in 24 hours. Curing time varies depending on ambient temperature, humidity and joint size. hours. · Moisture curing begins immediately after the product comes into contact with atmospheric moisture, therefore parts should be assembled within a few minutes of the time the product is applied. · Press or clamp the parts together. Do not move the parts against each other. · The material flow can be easily wiped off with non-polar solvents. · Cured material flow can be removed with a knife or single-edged razor blade.
