Catalog number: 36587 / IDH: 451183 is a two-component, medium viscosity, tough epoxy adhesive with extended pot life, intended for industrial applications. After mixing the components, Hysol 9489 cures at room temperature to a gray flexible mass. It can also be used for strain gauge repairs, seam sealing on fiber optic components, for printed circuit board repairs, bonding stainless steel inserts and for bonding rubber hoses to steel pipes. The extended pot life of this product allows for bonding large areas and provides ample time for precise positioning of components during bonding.

• Application for use:
  1. For best bonding results, the surfaces to be bonded should be clean, dry and degreased.
  2. The resin and hardener must be mixed thoroughly before use. The product can be applied directly from the twin cartridges via the supplied static mixer. In this case, squeeze the first 3 to 5 cm into the waste. When using a larger package of the product, mix both components thoroughly in the exact ratio by volume or weight. When mixing by hand, weigh or measure the required amount of resin and hardener and mix them vigorously. Mix for about 15 seconds after you have obtained a uniform color of the product.
  3. We recommend not mixing more than 4 kg of product at a time due to the generation of unwanted heat and overheating during the reaction of both components.
  4. After mixing, apply the product as quickly as possible to one of the surfaces to be bonded. To obtain maximum bond strength, spread the product evenly over both surfaces. The parts should be bonded immediately after applying the mixed adhesive.
  5. For information on the pot life, see the section Typical Properties of Uncured Material. Higher temperatures and smaller amounts of product will shorten the pot life.
  6. Prevent possible movement of assembled parts while the product is curing. The bonded joint should be left undisturbed until it has gained full strength before the parts are put into service.
  7. Uncured product overflow can be wiped up with organic solvents.
  8. After use, before the adhesive hardens, clean mixing and application equipment with hot water.
