Why use LOCTITE anti-wear compounds?

LOCTITE anti-wear compounds offer solutions to maintenance problems caused by wear, abrasion, chemical damage, cavitation and erosion. These products are applied by trowel, brush or spray. They contain special fillers for harsh conditions and are ideal for all large-scale repairs that must last a long time. Typical applications for this product range include air ducts, pumps, pump impellers, fan blades, screw conveyors, cyclones, etc.

Thanks to the extremely hard fillers, LOCTITE anti-wear compounds have excellent wear resistance and excellent adhesion. They have been developed for specific operating conditions and to protect and extend the life of a wide range of production technologies and equipment. Their main advantage is the ability to create a protective and regenerable working surface for parts, thus preserving the structural strength of the original parts. These coatings do not contain any ceramic fillers, which ensures a very smooth surface.

Traditional methods vs. modern solutions

Traditional repair methods, such as hardfacing or hot-dip galvanizing, are expensive and poorly performed on large areas. In contrast, LOCTITE anti-wear compounds are easy to apply to surfaces of all sizes and also offer corrosion protection. In addition, LOCTITE protective coatings do not cause thermal stress during application.

Particle size

To improve abrasion resistance, the filler particles of the LOCTITE compound should be approximately the same size as the particles causing abrasion. The range of LOCTITE anti-wear compounds includes products for protection against both coarse and fine particles. Chemical and corrosion resistance. These products provide good protection against fresh and salt water, ammonium sulphate and sodium hydroxide. Special products are also resistant to aggressive chemicals such as sulphuric acid and urea. For special requirements on chemical properties, please contact your local technical support.

Temperature resistance

The recommended operating temperatures for LOCTITE anti-wear compounds range from -30 to +120°C. Some special products, such as LOCTITE PC 7230 or LOCTITE PC 7229, can be used at temperatures up to 230°C. These special products require post-curing with heat to achieve the highest resistance to high temperatures.

Renovate worn surfaces and extend component life

Increase equipment efficiency

Save on component replacement costs, reduce investment in spare parts

Protect components against abrasion, erosion, corrosion and chemical attack

Good chemical resistance of the product

LOCTITE anti-wear compounds are two-component epoxies. The products must be properly mixed in the prescribed ratio before application and stirred to achieve a uniform color. To ensure good wetting of the LOCTITE anti-wear compound, we recommend first applying a primer such as LOCTITE PC 7117 before applying the LOCTITE anti-wear compound reinforced with coarse particles. For coatings thicker than 25 mm, apply the material in layers of 25 mm. Allow the previous coat to cool before applying each subsequent coat.

Product Preparation

Proper surface preparation is the foundation for the successful use of these products.

Good surface preparation:

improves the adhesion of LOCTITE anti-wear compounds to the components

LOCTITE extends maintenance intervals

After surface preparation, the components must be:

clean and dry

free of surface or internal chemical contamination

free of corrosion

with a minimum surface profile of 75 ?m

blasted surfaces 5 areas must be protected against immediate corrosion with LOCTITE SF 7515
