The Loctite 406 instant adhesive for plastics is primarily intended for bonding plastics, rubber (including EPDM, SBR, NBR) and elastomers where a very short fixation time is required. It enables high bond strength - the bond is often stronger than the bonded material. Loctite 406 is primarily used for bonding difficult-to-bond plastics (PE, PP, PTFE) and requires the use of the 770 primer for polyolefins. Generally suitable adhesive for most thermoplastics, thermosets and elastomers.

The instant adhesive Loctite 406 is primarily intended for plastic with a very short fixation time. It guarantees very high bond strength even with problematically bonded materials. Loctite 406 is such a powerful instant adhesive that the bonded joint is very often stronger than the bonded material itself. It is also suitable for most thermoplastics, thermosets and elastomers, and can also handle steel, aluminum, zinc, neoprene, ABS, PVC, polycarbonate and phenol.

Not recommended:

• for use in pure oxygen or oxygen-rich systems and should not be used to seal chlorine or other strongly oxidizing materials.

For the best bonding results, the bonded surfaces should be clean and free of any loose material. Due to low surface tension, it is advisable to use Loctite 770 or 7239 primer on the bonded surfaces. To accelerate the curing (due to the large gap between the bonded parts), it is recommended to use a suitable Loctite activator. However, this may reduce the final strength of the bonded joint (test required to verify the result).
