Loctite 242 is a multi-purpose threadlocker based on methacrylate technology. It has a medium strength and medium viscosity. This product is designed to quickly achieve handling strength on a variety of materials, namely steel, brass and stainless steel. Handling strength is achieved on these materials in 5, 15 and 20 minutes respectively.

Loctite 242 is thixotropic, which means that its viscosity changes depending on mechanical action. This property prevents flow after application and makes it easier to use. This lock is designed for joints that will require disassembly using common hand tools in the future.

Loctite 242 is a single-component, blue threadlocker with medium strength. It is suitable for threads up to a maximum diameter of M36. Its use is ideal for strong screw connections in food processing plants where direct contact with food is not permitted (NSF category P1). In addition, Loctite 242 is suitable for applications on less active materials such as metallized, coated and galvanized surfaces. Its thixotropic viscosity allows for application even overhead without dripping from the application site. Before applying Loctite 242, it is recommended to clean the parts with Loctite 70 joint cleaner. It is also advisable to use an activator beforehand.

Loctite 242 is ideal for strong threaded joints that need to be dismantled later. Its thixotropic nature ensures easy application even in hard-to-reach places. The product is available in 50 ml and 250 ml containers.

This product is based on acrylic technology, has a blue liquid form and is a single-component product. Its curing is anaerobic, which means that it requires a closed space without access to air to cure. For locking, activators 7471™ or 7649™ can be used if necessary.
