One-component low-expansion polyurethane adhesive for bonding polystyrene - polystyrene boards in Ceresit Ceretherm contact building insulation systems (ETICS)

84 Express is intended for bonding polystyrene boards outdoors in Ceresit Ceretherm contact building insulation systems. Ceresit CT 84 Express is intended for use in performing insulation work in new buildings or in the reconstruction of existing buildings. After about 2 hours after gluing the polystyrene insulation boards, it is possible to proceed with their grinding, installation of dowels and subsequent smoothing of the reinforcing mesh using Ceresit CT 85, Ceresit CT 87 or Ceresit ZU leveling compounds. Polyurethane adhesive Ceresit CT 84 is also intended for bonding EPS and XPS expanded polystyrene boards to substrates such as ceramic bricks, concrete, wood, OSB boards, structural steel, concrete blocks, glass, bitumen, asphalt insulation strips, asphalt penetrations.

Substrate preparation:
Ceresit CT 84 Express adheres to all load-bearing, clean, dry substrates (masonry, plaster, concrete) free from grease, resins, dust and dirt. In case of application at lower temperatures, the substrate must not be covered with ice or snow. Check the adhesion of existing base layers - plasters and coatings. Loose plasters must be removed. Dirty surfaces, vapour barrier coatings and coatings with low adhesion must be completely removed, e.g. by high-pressure water cleaning. Clean areas affected by mould and fungi thoroughly with a steel brush and treat with the special anti-fungal agent Ceresit CT 99. Clean old unplastered masonry and cohesive coatings, wash with a high-pressure water jet and allow to dry completely. Check the adhesion of CT 84 Express by sticking polystyrene cubes measuring 10 x 10 cm in several places and tear them off by hand after 2 - 4 hours. The load-bearing capacity of the substrate is OK if a crack appears in the polystyrene cube.
